Step 1: Soak in Cool Water

Fill a bucket or sink with cool water and a bit of mild detergent, such as dishwashing liquid. Allow your swimsuit to soak for 15-20 minutes. This will help to loosen the varnish and make it easier to remove.

Step 2: Rub Away with Soft Brush

Once the fabric is good and soaked, use a soft bristled brush or toothbrush to gently scrub away at the stain. Start from the outside and work your way inwards so you don't spread the varnish further than necessary. Do so in a circular motion.

Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water

Rinse your swimsuit in cold water after you're done scrubbing. Be sure to rinse thoroughly so that there is no remaining suds on the garment.

Step 4: Launder

Throw your suit in the washing machine using gentle cycle and cold water. If possible, add a teaspoon of non-chlorine bleach. Hang the wet garment to dry in the shade. Avoid wringing or vigorous rubbing as this may cause more damage than good.
