What You'll Need:

  • Stiff-bristled brush
  • Pure white vinegar
  • Damp cloth
  • Laundry detergent

Step One: Scrub Stain

Take your stiff-bristled brush and scrub the stained area in a circular motion. This will help to loosen the varnish from the fabric and make it easier to remove later. Be sure not to press too hard — you don't want to damage the fabric of the sundress.

Step Two: Soak Stain

After you've removed as much of the stain as you can, pour pure white vinegar onto the fabric and let it soak for 30 minutes. The vinegar will act as a natural solvent and help to further break down the varnish so it can be removed more easily.

Step Three: Rinse Stain

Take a damp cloth and rinse away the vinegar and loosened varnish. Be sure to work in the same circular motion as before to ensure thorough removal of the stain.

Step Four: Wash the Garment

Once stain has been removed, wash the sundress in a gentle cycle with cold water and a few drops of laundry detergent. Line dry the garment or tumble dry on a low setting to avoid shrinkage.
