Using a soft, clean cloth, gently blot the stained area to remove as much of the varnish as possible. Be sure not to rub or scrub the fabric—doing so could cause further damage to the delicate material.
Mix a small amount of water and a few drops of mild detergent in a bowl. Dip a fresh cloth into the mixture and then blot the stained area. Take care not to saturate material with the cleaning solution.
Rinse the stained area with cold water. Then, use a sponge to apply a diluted vinegar solution to the area. Rinse the area again with cold water.
Gently dab the area dry with a soft, clean cloth. Do not rub or scrub the material; this can cause the stain to spread and worsen. Once dry, varnish stains should be removed from the silk gazar.
