What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish-washing liquid
  • Mild laundry detergent
  • Old toothbrush or soft-bristled brush

Instructions

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and ½ teaspoon of mild dish-washing liquid with 1 cup of warm water. If the stain is large, double the amount of vinegar and dish-washing liquid.
  2. Soak the stained area of the silk garment in mixture for around 10 minutes.
  3. Gently scrub the stain with an old toothbrush or soft-bristled brush.
  4. Rinse the fabric with cold water and dab the area dry with a clean cloth.
  5. If the stain persists, mix a solution of 1 tablespoon of mild laundry detergent and ¼ cup of warm water.
  6. Soak the stain in the detergent solution for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Gently rub the stain with a soft-bristled brush.
  8. Rinse with cold water and allow the fabric to air dry.

Tips

  • Always test the cleaning solution on a hidden part of the fabric before use.
  • Remember to use cold water when rinsing the fabric after each application.
  • Do not dry the garment before you are sure that the stain has been completely removed.
  • Avoid scrubbing too hard as this may damage the fabric.
