What You’ll Need

  • Laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • A toothbrush
  • Oxygen bleach
  • A sponge

Step 1: Blanket the Stain with Detergent

Create a lather of laundry detergent and warm water and apply it directly onto the stain. Scrub the area using a toothbrush and let the detergent sit on stained area for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Rinse with Vinegar Water

Mix some white vinegar and warm water in a bowl. Take your sponge and dip it into the mixture. Use the sponge to gently scrub stained area until all the detergent is washed away. This will also help break down the varnish.

Step 3: Apply Oxygen Bleach

Mix oxygen bleach according to the instructions on the package. Make sure to treat the garment with an oxygen bleach that is considered safe for the fabric. Soak stained shirt in this mixture for at least 20 minutes, but no more than 30 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse and Let Dry

Rinse the stained area with cold water and let the garment dry naturally.
