What You Will Need

  • Pumice stone
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar or lemon juice
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Old toothbrush or sponge

Instructions

Begin by wetting stained surface of the pot or pan and sprinkling a generous amount of baking soda over it. Then take your pumice stone and gently scrub baking soda in a circular motion to help remove varnish stain. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the surface with warm water and dry it with a clean cloth.

If varnish stain is particularly stubborn, you may want to try a vinegar or lemon juice solution. Simply mix one part white vinegar or lemon juice with two parts warm water and pour it over the stain. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then use an old toothbrush or a sponge to scrub the area until stain is gone. Rinse with warm water and dry with a clean cloth.

Finally, if the varnish stain still won’t budge, try making a paste using equal parts liquid dish soap and baking soda. Rub the paste onto the stain and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water and drying with a clean cloth.
