Using a clean white cloth, gently blot away any excess varnish or paint from the surface of the poncho. Do not rub or scrub the stain as this may cause it to spread.
Mix together equal parts of dishwashing liquid, white vinegar, and distilled water in a bowl. The quantities depend on the size of the stain, but it should be enough to cover the stained area.
Dip the white cloth into the cleaning solution and use it to apply the mixture to stain. Gently massage the mixture into fabric and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.
Use a damp cloth to rinse the area and remove the cleaning solution. Once you have rinsed the area, use another clean cloth to pat the fabric dry.
Leave the poncho to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Do not use a hairdryer or any other heat source to dry the poncho, as this can damage the fabric.
Cleaning varnish stains from ponchos can seem like a daunting task, but with the right materials and instructions, it doesn’t have to be difficult. Follow these simple steps to ensure that your poncho stays looking as good as new.
