There are several ways to go about removing varnish stains from your favorite polo shirt. The first is to try to lift off as much of the varnish as possible with a soft cloth. You can use a dry cloth or dab a bit of water onto the cloth before using it. Take care to rub lightly in order to avoid damaging the fabric.

If the stain persists, you may need to resort to a stronger cleaning solution. Try applying a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto stain and then rub with a soft cloth. Alternatively, you can mix equal parts of dishwashing liquid, vinegar, and ammonia and apply to stain. Rinse afterward to remove the solution.

For more stubborn stains, it may be necessary to use a commercial varnish remover. Make sure to read instructions carefully before applying the solution, as this type of cleaner is very powerful and can damage the fabric if used incorrectly. Afterward, make sure to thoroughly rinse the area with fresh water.

It is also important to address resisting and odors. If there is a lingering smell or residue, try a few drops of white vinegar on the affected area. Allow vinegar to sit for a few minutes before rinsing. For tough odors, a commercial odor eliminator can also do the trick.

Finally, if all else fails, take your shirt to the dry cleaners. Professional dry cleaners have more powerful cleaning solutions than what is available to consumers and can safely remove even the toughest of stains.
