Whether your fancy footwear has been splashed with varnish or your waistcoat got too close to some craftwork, the damage can seem daunting. Thankfully, there are methods to removing varnish stains from Paul Smith clothing that are both practical and effective.
The best cleaning solution for tackling dried varnish on Paul Smith clothing is white spirit. White spirit is a paint-thinner solvent that can cut through varnish to help eradicate the stain, provided it hasn't been sitting for too long.
To use white spirit, first apply a small amount directly to the stained area. Using a clean cloth, carefully rub stained patch of fabric in a circular motion until the varnish begins to break down. Afterwards, rinse the spot with warm water and repeat as necessary.
If you find that regular white spirit isn’t doing the job, you can try a mixture of dish detergent and hydrogen peroxide. This weather-resistant combination is best used in times of more persistent staining.
To make the mixture, mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide with 3 parts dish detergent. Apply the solution to the stained area and, with a soft-bristled brush, gently work the paste into the fabric in a circular motion. Rinse out the paste and repeat if necessary.
Varnish stains on Paul Smith clothes can seem like an intimidating problem to solve but, armed with the right knowledge, it doesn’t need to be. With the right materials and careful cleaning techniques, you can restore your item of clothing back to its former glory.
