How to Get Varnish Stains Out of Your Jumper Easily
Accidentally spilling varnish on your favourite jumper can be a real nightmare. Fortunately, with right cleaning materials and techniques, you can get those varnish stains out quickly and easily.

Materials Needed
- White cloth
- Dishwashing detergent
- Vinegar
- Ammonia
- Hairdryer
Instructions
- Lay the jumper out flat on a solid surface.
- Soak a white cloth in a mild dishwashing detergent.
- Gently rub the stained area with the damp cloth.
- Mix equal parts vinegar and ammonia in a bowl.
- Dip the cloth in the vinegar-ammonia mixture and dab the affected area.
- Continue until stain is gone.
- Rinse the treated area with cold water.
- Blot the fabric dry with a clean cloth.
- Finish up by using a hairdryer to dry the area completely.
Tips
- If the stain is still present after using the vinegar-ammonia mixture, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol.
- Always test a hidden area of the jumper first before attempting to remove a varnish stain from outside.
- Avoid using hot water when cleaning varnish stains, as this can cause the stain to set.
- Never pour vinegar or ammonia directly onto fabric.
