The first step to removing a varnish stain from J Jill clothing is to contact the care instructions provided with the clothing item. Depending on the type and color of the fabric, different techniques are used to remove stains. Generally, treating a varnish stain on J Jill fabric should be done as soon as possible after the stain has appeared.

If the fabric is dry clean only you will need to take it to a professional dry cleaner. If the fabric is machine washable then you can try to treat the stain at home. To do this, you will need to mix a solution of warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent. Mix the solution until it forms suds, then soak the stained area in the suds for 30 minutes. Afterwards, rinse the area in warm water and use a towel to dab and absorb the moisture.

For tougher stains, you may need to use a stronger solution. For this you will need to dissolve a teaspoon of washing soda in a cup of warm water, and mix it until it forms suds. Soak the stained area in the suds for 30 minutes, and then rinse the area in warm water. Again, use a towel to absorb the moisture.

If the stain persists, you can try using a commercial spot remover specifically designed for removing varnish stains. Apply the cleaner to the stain, following instructions on product’s label. Again, rinse area in warm water and use a towel to absorb the moisture.

Once the stain has been removed, it is important to quickly launder the garment. This will ensure that the stain does not set into fabric. After laundering, check for any remaining marks. If they remain, repeat process until the stain is completely gone.
