Start by preheating grill on medium heat for 5-10 minutes. This will help loosen any built up grease or residue. After that, use your brush to scrub away the dirt and debris from the surface. Be gentle and take your time with this step, as you want to make sure to avoid scratching the surface of the metal itself.
Once you've opened up the cooked-on grime with the brush, use the metal scraper to scour away any residual varnish. Avoid applying too much pressure, as this can leave scratches that weaken the structural integrity of the grill.
Now you can apply your chosen cleaning solution. If you're using ammonia, make sure the area is well ventilated. Pour the product liberally over the grill, taking care to get into all nooks and crannies. Allow the liquid to sit for 5-10 minutes before proceeding to the next step.
After the cleaning solution has had time to work its magic, use the wire brush and the damp rag to scrub away any remaining residue from the grill. Once everything is clean and dry, allow grill to cool before reassembling and using it.
By following this simple four-step process, you can keep your grill sparklingly clean. So when it's time to fire up the barbie, you know that your food is cooking on a hygienic surface. Enjoy your grilling season, and bon appétit!
