The first step in removing varnish stains from Fred Perry clothing, or any other items, is to scrape off as much of varnish as possible. You can do this using a dull-edged knife or metal spoon. Be careful not to damage the fabric by scraping too forcefully.
Once you’ve removed as much of the varnish as possible, it’s time to soak the item in white vinegar. Fill a sink or basin with warm water and add 1/4 cup of white vinegar for every gallon of water. Allow the item to soak for at least 30 minutes—longer if the stain is particularly stubborn.
Once the item has soaked for at least 30 minutes, remove it from water and rinse it in cool running water. To finish, launder the item according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Then, dry the item according to instructions as well.
