With a few simple tools and supplies, you can easily clean up any unsightly varnish stains and restore the look of your shoes.

What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Soft bristle brush
  • Dry cloth
  • Mild laundry detergent

Steps to Clean Varnish Stains from Flip Flops

  1. Mix one part white vinegar in with two parts water. Dip a soft bristled brush into the solution and then use it to gently scrub the stained area.
  2. After scrubbing, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the area.
  3. Leave the baking soda in place for about an hour and then scrub area again with brush.
  4. Wipe away the baking soda with a dry cloth and examine the area.
  5. If necessary, repeat steps 1-3 until stain is completely gone.
  6. Once the stain is fully removed, wash the area with a mild laundry detergent.
  7. Allow the area to fully dry before wearing the flip flops.
