Varnish stains can occur when you store your earplugs for an extended period of time. Fortunately, cleaning varnish stains from your earplugs isn’t difficult. With a few simple steps, you can easily clean and restore your earplugs and experience optimal noise protection again.
For light varnish stains, soaking your earplugs in plain, cold water is usually enough to remove discoloration and other signs of the stain. You should allow your earplugs to soak for no more than 15 minutes. After soaking, rinse them off with warm water.
For more stubborn stains, use a soft-bristle toothbrush and some mild soap to gently scrub away the varnish. You should never use a hard brush as this may damage the surface of your earplugs. When scrubbing, be gentle and do not press too hard as this may cause scratches or otherwise damage earplugs.
If your earplugs are still stained after following the previous steps, you can use a combination of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to remove stains. Mix together one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and one teaspoon of baking soda in a bowl of water. Place your earplugs in mixture and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. After soaking, rinse them off with warm water and allow them to air dry.
The best way to prevent varnish stains is to practice regular maintenance on your earplugs. Make sure you keep them clean and dry after each use. This will help stop the growth of bacteria and other harmful agents. Additionally, let air circulate freely through the earplugs and keep them out of direct sunlight as this could cause discoloration.
By following the simple steps above, you can easily clean varnish stains from your earplugs and get back to enjoying optimal noise reduction. Keep in mind, however, that preventing such stains is much easier than cleaning them. Therefore, be sure to practice proper maintenance for your earplugs to keep them in the best condition possible.
