The key to removing varnish stains from cotton twill is to act quickly, as the longer the stain has to set in, the harder it will be to remove. The best way to start is by gently dabbing stained area with a towel saturated in lukewarm water. This helps to loosen the varnish and makes it easier to remove. If some of the varnish remains, try soaking a cloth in white vinegar and water solution and then place the cloth over the stained area.
Then, you can proceed to use some non-abrasive dish detergent and a soft toothbrush to work the stain away. You should also ensure that you apply the dish detergent in a circular motion to avoid damaging the fabric or making the stain worse. When done, rinse the area with clean water and leave to dry.
Alternatively, you can try using abestos remover and rubbing alcohol to get rid of the varnish stain. First, take some asbestos remover and pour it onto the stained area and let it sit for around 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, rub the stain with a rag or cloth doused in rubbing alcohol. However, this method should only be used on older fabrics, as it may damage more delicate fabrics.
If the stain still doesn't come off, you might need to bring in a professional cleaner for assistance. The last thing you want to do is damage your fabric while attempting to remove the stain. Professional cleaners will be able to assess the stain and provide the proper treatment and cleaning method to effectively remove it.
Now that you know how to get varnish stains out of cotton twill fabric, you can relax knowing that you won't have to worry about ruining a piece of clothing due to a mishap with varnish!
