How to Get Rid of Varnish Stains on Your Collared Shirt

Nobody likes it when their clothes get stained, and removing varnish stains from collared shirts can be a tricky task. But with the right techniques, you can successfully remove the varnish without further damaging fabric. Read on to learn how you can take care of this type of stain!

What You Need

• White vinegar
• Baking soda
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Water
• Soft cloth
• Iron

Instructions

1. Mix white vinegar with an equal amount of water and soak affected area of the shirt.
2. Let it sit for 10 minutes or until the varnish starts to dissolve.
3. Blot the stain with a soft cloth while it is still damp.
4. If there is still some discoloration afterward, make a paste out of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and apply it on stained area.
5. Leave the paste to dry for 30 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.
6. Use a slightly heated iron to set the stain and let it cool.
7. Wash the shirt with lukewarm water and mild detergent.
8. For stubborn stains, repeat process until the stain has completely vanished.
