Varnish stains can be a real nuisance, especially if they get on clothing or fabric. Because varnish is a combination of chemicals, it can be difficult to remove without causing further damage. Luckily, there are some simple steps you can take to clean varnish stains from your cardigan.
The first step is to dab the stain with a paper towel to remove any excess varnish. Make sure not to rub the stain, as this can spread it further.
Once you've dabbed off excess varnish, apply rubbing alcohol to a cotton ball. Gently dab the stained area with the cotton ball, taking care not to scrub the fabric too hard. Repeat this step until the varnish begins to lighten.
If the rubbing alcohol doesn't do the trick, try rinsing the area with white vinegar. Let the vinegar sit on the stain for a few minutes, then dab it off with a paper towel.
After rinsing the area with vinegar, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the stained area with baking soda. This will help to break down the varnish and make it easier to remove. Rinse off the baking soda and repeat the process until the stain has been removed.
Once you've done all the steps above, soak garment in cold water for up to 30 minutes. Then, launder it as normal. To prevent any further damage, always follow the care instructions on clothing label.
As you can see, removing varnish stains from clothing can be a bit of a hassle. However, with the right supplies and a little patience, you should have no problem getting those stains out in no time.
