What You’ll Need
- Turpentine
- White cotton cloth
- Fresh water
Steps to Cleaning Varnish Stains
- Begin by gently dabbing the stained area with a damp white cotton cloth.
- Continue dabbing until you’ve removed the majority of the stain, making sure to keep the cloth damp.
- Once the stain has been successfully removed, rinse the area with cool water.
- If the stain still remains, dip a clean cloth into turpentine and carefully blot the stain. Be sure to not scrub the area as this can cause damage to the canvas.
- Rinse the area once more with cool water and allow it to air dry.
