The first step in removing varnish stains from your clothes is to pre-treat the area with a commercial spot remover or a mixture of warm water and laundry detergent. Apply the solution to the affected area and let it sit for two to three minutes. Then, gently rub the area with a soft brush in circular motions. This will help to loosen the varnish and make it easier to remove.
Once you have pre-treated the stain, you should then wash garment according to instructions on the label. Be sure to use a detergent designed for delicate fabrics and a cold water setting. Do not use hot water as this could cause the stain to set in further.
Once the garment has been washed, rinse it thoroughly and then air dry. You should never put a garment with a varnish stain in the dryer as it could potentially set the stain even further. Allow garment to dry completely before wearing.
If there are still traces of the stain after you have washed and dried the garment, you can try reapplying the spot remover or laundry detergent mixture. Let it sit for approximately two to three minutes and then gently scrub the area with a soft brush in small circles. Finally, rinse the garment again and then air dry.
