Varnish stains on broomstick lace can be difficult to remove, and regular cleaners or scrubbing can ruin the delicate fabric of lace. Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to safely remove the stains with the right materials. Here's what to do to get your broomstick lace back in shape:
First, gather supplies you'll need to remove the varnish. You'll need a soft-bristled scrub brush and a mild detergent.
Before you start cleaning, test the detergent on an inconspicuous part of the fabric to make sure it won't cause discoloration or damage. If the detergent is safe, mix 1–2 tablespoons of the detergent in 1 quart of water. Do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals, as they can weaken fabric.
Once you've confirmed the detergent won't harm fabric, soak a soft cloth in detergent solution and use it to rub gently at the stained area. Make sure not to scrub too hard, as this could damage the fabric.
If necessary, rinse the fabric with clear water and repeat the process until the stain is gone. You may need to apply more detergent or let the fabric soak for a few minutes to get the stain out.
When the stain has been removed, allow the fabric to air dry. Do not put the fabric in dryer, as this could cause shrinkage and further damage.
With the right technique and products, you can easily remove varnish stains from your broomstick lace. Just remember to test the detergent beforehand to make sure it won't cause any harm.
