No matter how careful you are when using varnishes or sealants, it is all too easy for them to leave unwanted marks on your baking dishes. Don't worry though - it's actually fairly simple to remove these stubborn varnish stains that can accumulate over time.
Instructions
- Start by preparing a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl or basin deep enough to submerge the entire dish.
- Soak the dish in the solution for at least one hour.
- Remove the dish from the solution, and dry it using a soft cloth.
- Next, use a scouring pad to scrub away the varnish stains.
- If stains are still visible, increase concentration of the vinegar and water solution and repeat steps 2-4.
- Finally, to remove any lingering odors, soak the dish in a solution of two teaspoons of baking soda in two cups of warm water for several hours or overnight.
Tips
- Be sure to use cleaning supplies that are labeled “food safe” to avoid getting any chemicals on your dishes.
- Always wear protective gloves when handling harsh cleaning chemicals.
- Be sure to rinse the dishes thoroughly after cleaning to avoid any residues.
Warning
If the varnish has been on the dish for an extended period of time, it may be difficult to remove without damaging surface of the dish. It is best to consult a professional if the stains are particularly stubborn.
