Step 1: Test for Colorfastness

Before applying any cleaning solutions, start by testing a small, inconspicuous area of the anorak to make sure it won’t discolor or fade with cleaning agents. Take a wet cloth or paper towel and blot area gently. If any color comes off on cloth, do not continue with the cleaning process as it could damage the fabric.

Step 2: Scrape Off Excess Varnish

Once you know it’s safe to proceed, use a plastic brush to scrape away any excess varnish. Make sure to be gentle, as applying too much pressure could cause fabric to tear. You can also use a blunt knife if necessary, but make sure to use extra care when doing so.

Step 3: Apply Stain Remover

It’s time to apply your preferred stain remover. Always read and follow the directions precisely, applying the solution directly onto the affected areas. Rub it in with a cloth or sponge, allowing the remover to work its magic. Allow solution to sit for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.

Step 4: Clean with Water

Finally, rinse area with cold water. Once all the cleaner has been washed off the anorak, let it air dry by hanging it in a well-ventilated area. You can also use a fan or hairdryer to speed up the process, making sure to keep the setting on low.

And that's it—you’re now one step closer to having a clean and varnish-free anorak! Repeat these steps as necessary until the stains are gone.
