Angora is a soft, luxurious fabric that can be used for sweaters, scarves, and other clothing. When you spill varnish on it, however, the fabric can become permanently discolored. Fortunately, there are some tricks you can use to safely remove varnish stains from Angora.

Step 1: Cut off Excess Varnish

Before attempting to clean a varnish stain from Angora fabric, it's important to cut off any excess material. To do this, put on a pair of gloves and used a pair of scissors to carefully trim away any excess varnish. Be sure to discard the trimmings in a sealed plastic bag to avoid getting varnish on anything else.

Step 2: Soak Stained Area in Water

Once you've trimmed away excess varnish, soak the stained area in cold water for at least 15 minutes. This will help to loosen any remaining varnish so it can be more easily removed.

Step 3: Spot Clean with Detergent Solution

After soaking, make a mild detergent solution using one teaspoon of a mild laundry detergent and one cup of cold water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and spot clean the stain, working from the outside of the stain towards the center. Be sure to use gentle pressure and dab the area rather than rubbing it.

Step 4: Rinse with Cold Water

When varnish has been removed, rinse the area with cold water. Do not use hot water, as this could cause the varnish to set and make it harder to remove.

Step 5: Dry Stained Area

Finally, lay the garment flat on a towel and allow it to air dry completely. Once it is dry, the varnish stain should be gone.
