Varnish stains can come from spills, pet accidents, and other sources. Many people think that varnish stains are challenging to remove, but that’s not necessarily true. With the right method and supplies, you can easily take care of them.
Begin by using a white cloth to gently blot the stain. Do not scrub; scrubbing will only spread the stain. Work from outside of the stain towards the center instead.
Mix baking soda with a small amount of water to create a paste. Use a soft-bristle brush or a toothbrush to spread the paste evenly over the stained area. Once the paste is applied, let it sit for one hour before wiping it away with a damp cloth.
Mix a mild detergent (such as dish soap) with a few drops of white vinegar. Use a white cloth to apply solution to the stain. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse well and pat dry.
If the stain still persists, apply a small amount of non-gel toothpaste to the stained area and rub it in with a soft cloth. This should help lift the remaining stain. Rinse off the toothpaste with a damp cloth and then dry the area.
Varnish stains do not have to be challenging to remove. With the right method and cleaning supplies, you can easily get rid of them. Remember to blot the area before cleaning, then use a baking soda paste and a detergent solution before trying toothpaste to ensure the best results.
