If your lace has been stained with urine, it’s best to tackle it right away. Trying to wash it in washing machine or throwing it in the dryer can cause irreparable damage. The heat and agitation of a washing machine will only set the stain deeper in the fabric, making it much more difficult to remove.
The first step is to rinse the stained area with cold water. Make sure to use as little pressure as possible to avoid damaging the lace. Rinse until all of the residue has been removed, and then allow the lace to air dry.
Once the lace is dry, take a soft bristled brush and gently scrub the urine-stained area. Use a mild detergent if needed, but make sure to dilute it with warm water. The goal is to find something that is strong enough to remove stain without damaging the delicate lace.
If the stain is still visible after scrubbing, fill a basin with lukewarm water and a gentle cleaning solution. Soak lace for at least 30 minutes, making sure to keep the water lukewarm throughout the process. Once it’s finished soaking, rinse the lace in the same warm water used for cleaning solution. Allow the lace to air dry naturally.
If the stain is still present after soaking, repeat the scrubbing process. Make sure that the brush you use is soft, so it won’t leave marks on the lace. If the stain persists, then you may need to repeat the soaking process a few more times. It’s important to be patient when dealing with delicate fabrics.
With the proper steps, removing urine stains from Venetian lace is not as difficult as it may seem. By taking your time and using the correct methods, you should be able to successfully remove the stain without causing any damage to the fabric.
