When it comes to cleaning off urine stains, first step is to act quickly! Urine consists of proteins that tend to break down when exposed to moisture and air, making it easier to remove if you catch the stain while it's still fresh. The sooner you can get to stain, the better your chances of being able to get rid of it.

Once you have identified the stain, here is what you can do:

  • For wet, freshly-stained shirts, simply blot the area with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much of urine as possible. Do not rub the area, as this could spread the stain.
  • If the stain has dried, try soaking the shirt in cold water for about 10 minutes before attempting further cleaning methods. This will help to loosen the stain, making it easier to remove.
  • Mix one part white vinegar with three parts cold water and spray the solution onto urine stain. Allow the solution to soak into the shirt for 10 minutes before blotting up any excess liquid with a clean cloth.
  • Once the area is dry, apply a small amount of liquid detergent directly to stain, gently massaging it in until it forms a light lather. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for 5-10 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
  • Finally, place the t-shirt in the washing machine and wash it in cold water. Make sure to use an enzyme-based laundry detergent, as this will help to break down any remaining proteins in stain.

With these tips, you can successfully clean urine stains off your favorite t-shirt and keep it looking like new. Just remember to be fast, and gentle, when it comes time to tackle those pesky urine stains!
