The first step is to rinse the stained area with cold water as soon as you can. This will help to minimise the depth of penetration of the stain and make it easier to remove.
Before putting the item into the washer, pre-treat the stained area with a detergent specifically designed for removing urine stains. Simply rub a few drops of detergent into the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Once the stain has been pre-treated, it’s time to put garment in the washing machine. Make sure you use a gentle cycle and use a mild or delicatewashing detergent. Avoid any setting that produces too much suds, as this could damage fabric.
When the laundry cycle is complete, take garment out of the washer and lay it flat on a clean towel to dry. Never throw it in the dryer as the heat could set the stain and make it difficult to remove.
If the stain is still visible after the wash and dry cycle, re-apply a stain remover product directly on the stained area. Let the product sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
By following the steps above, you should be able to remove urine stains from your traditional clothing with relative ease. That said, this method works best if the stain is treated as soon as possible, so don’t wait if you find any urine on your garments.
