Removing Urine Stains From Plush Toys

If the urine stains are still fresh and wet, start by dabbing at the affected area with a paper towel. Before you start cleaning the toy itself, it is important to remove as much excess moisture as possible. Once you have done this, mix a solution made up of one part white vinegar or mild detergent and three parts warm water. Make sure the water isn’t too hot, as some fabrics may be sensitive to high temperatures.

Apply the solution to affected area and then let it sit for about five minutes or until stain has been loosened. This can also be done using a damp cloth, as long as you make sure that the cloth is only damp and not soaking. Once you've done this, rinse toy with clean, cold water.

To finish off, lay the toy flat in direct sunlight to dry. Avoid placing the toy in a clothes dryer, as this may cause shrinkage or discoloration.

Cleaning Fabric Toys

Fabric toys require a different approach. Start by vacuuming affected area to remove any surface dust and dirt. Then, mix a solution of one part mild detergent and four parts cold water. Gently dab the detergent solution over the stained area and let it sit for approximately 10 minutes before rinsing toy with cold water.

Afterwards, place the toy on a flat surface such as a table and gently press down on it in order to remove any remaining moisture. Finally, lay the toy in direct sunlight to naturally dry.
