The sooner you address any stain, the better. When it comes to urine stains, the best move is to blot the area with a paper towel or cloth. Don’t rub the spot - this may only spread the stain further and make it harder to remove. Blotting will soak up some of the liquid, so it doesn’t seep further into the fabric.
Mix together 1 part vinegar and 2 parts cold water in a bowl or spray bottle. Vinegar is known for its odor-eliminating and stain-fighting properties, so it’s perfect ingredient for removing urine stains.
Spray solution directly onto the area or use a cloth to saturate the stain. This will help to make sure that the vinegar penetrates deep into the fibers of the skirt.
It’s important to let the solution sit for at least 10 minutes, but it won’t hurt to leave it on for up to 15 minutes. This will give it enough time to do its job and break down the urine.
Rinse the affected area with cool or lukewarm water. Be careful not to use hot water as this may set the stain.
To make sure all the cleaning solution and urine are removed, wash the skirt following the instructions on the label. Hang the skirt up to air dry when finished. Do not put it in the dryer as this may cause the stain to become set.
Follow these steps to quickly and easily remove fresh urine stains from your skirt. If you find that the stain has already dried, use a stain remover specifically made for urine before treating the area with vinegar solution.
