The first step to removing urine stains is to act quickly. The longer the stain sits in fabric, the more difficult it becomes to remove. Immediately after the accident, rinse the stain with cold water and then soak it in a mixture of cold water and white vinegar. Leave the garment to soak for 30 minutes, or up to an hour if the stain is stubborn.
After soaking, use a small dab of laundry detergent to pre-treat the stain before washing. Rub the detergent onto the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before proceeding to the next step.
Finally, machine wash shift dress according to instructions on the tag. Make sure to select a cold water cycle and avoid using hot water on delicate fabrics such as silk. If stain remains after washing, repeat steps 1-3.
