What You'll Need

  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Absorbent cloth (cotton works best)
  • Baking soda
  • Liquid detergent

1. Blot the Stain Away

The first step is to absorb as much of urine as possible from the shoe. Start by blotting the stain with an absorbent cloth. Keep applying pressure while rotating or flipping cloth as needed. Continue this process until no more liquid can be absorbed.

2. Preparation Solution

Once the urine has been absorbed, create a preparation solution by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar. Dip the absorbent cloth in the solution and then use it to scrub the stain. Be sure to apply pressure while scrubbing around the affected area.

3. Rinse & Dry

Next, rinse the shoe off to remove any remaining solution. Use cold water and be sure to completely rinse the shoe. Finally, dry the shoe off with another absorbent cloth.

4. Baking Soda & Detergent

In order to completely remove stain, you’ll need to use a combination of baking soda and detergent. Start by sprinkling baking soda onto the affected area. Next, mix 2 tablespoons of liquid detergent with 1 quart of warm water. Use a soft cloth to dip into the solution, and then scrub the stain with the cloth. After scrubbing, rinse the shoe off with cold water.

5. Let it Air Dry

Finally, let the shoe air dry in a warm place. Once the shoe is dry, inspect the area for any remaining stains. If there are still traces of the stain, repeat the steps above until it is completely removed.
