If you notice a urine stain on your pillow as soon as it happens, the best way to remove it is with a cleaning solution. You can make your own solution using a few common household items. Mix together 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, 1 tablespoon white vinegar, 2 cups of warm water and a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil for a natural scent. Dip a rag or microfiber cloth into the mixture and wring out most of the liquid before blotting the stained area.
If the urine has already dried on the pillow, you can try this method. Mix together equal parts baking soda and white vinegar to form a thick paste. Apply the paste directly to the stain and use a brush to work it into the fabric. Leave the paste to sit and dry completely before vacuuming it away with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner.
You can also purchase a commercial stain remover designed for use on fabrics. Make sure that the product is safe for type of material your pillow is made from before using it. Read the instructions carefully and apply the product as directed.
Another option is to mix together 1 tablespoon of ammonia and ¼ cup of warm water. Dip a rag or microfiber cloth into the mixture and wring out most of the liquid before lightly blotting the stained area. Make sure that you don't let ammonia soak into the fabric too much as this can cause damage.
Once the stain has been removed, you'll need to deodorize the pillow to get rid of any lingering odors. You can try sprinkling baking soda over pillow and leaving it to sit for at least 30 minutes before vacuuming it off with brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. Additionally, you can place the pillow outside in sun to help naturally deodorize it.
If the stain is particularly stubborn or you want to make sure that it's totally gone, you can try washing the pillow in the washing machine. Make sure that you use a gentle cycle and cold water. When you're done, air dry the pillow or dry it in the dryer set on low setting.
