The first step is to pre-treat the stain with a cleaning solution. Use a specialized cleaning solution that is designed specifically for Merino wool and follow the directions carefully. Be sure to read the warnings and do not use bleach on the fabric. After pre-treating the stain, let solution sit for at least 15 minutes before proceeding to step 2.
Once cleaning solution has had time to work its magic, rinse the area thoroughly. Make sure to use cool water as hot water can cause the stain to set. Once the area has been rinsed, gently scrub the area with a soft brush. This will help to further break down the stain and remove any residue from the cleaning solution.
Finally, put the item into a washing machine and select a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent and make sure to read fabric care label before selecting a temperature setting. Once washing machine cycle is complete, hang the item up to dry in direct sunlight. The sun’s UV rays will help to further break down the stain and add brightness to the fabric.
