When dealing with urine stains, it’s important to act fast. Start by removing as much of the liquid as possible by blotting the area with an absorbent cloth or paper towel. Try to avoid rubbing the stain, as this can spread it further and make it more difficult to remove.
Once you’ve blotted the excess liquid, you will need to flush stain with cold water. This can be done by running a gentle stream of cold water over the affected area, or even soaking the affected area in a basin filled with cold water. This should remove some of the urine and further help to reduce the stain.
Once you’ve rinsed the stain, you can use a specialty stain remover or some household items. A mix of 1 part white vinegar and 1 part cold water can help to break down and remove urine stains. For best results, dab the mixture onto the affected area, allow it to sit for 20 minutes, then rinse and repeat. Another option is to use a mixture of 1 part dish soap and 2 parts cold water. Again, same procedure applies. Dab mixture onto the stain, let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse it away.
Once you’re done treating the stain, check the fabric care label before washing the garment with your normal laundry detergent. If the garment is machine washable, use a cold water cycle and a mild detergent. You may also want to consider adding a few tablespoons of white vinegar to the load - this can help to further break down the urine stains. Once the garment has been washed, air dry it instead of using a dryer.
By following these steps and treating the urine stains quickly, you can effectively remove them and restore your leggings.
