Step 1: Dilute The Urine

The first thing you'll need to do is dilute the urine spot. If you have an artificial grass surface, use a water hose to evenly spray the area. For natural grass, it's best to mix one gallon of water with one cup of white vinegar and slowly pour it over the area. Make sure not to drown the grass.

Step 2: Clean the Spot

Next grab a scrub brush (or even an old toothbrush will do) and gently scrub stain in a circular motion. Again for artificial grass, use regular water to rinse the spot. For natural grass, you'll want to use a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda mixed with one gallon of water to help neutralize the acid in the urine.

Step 3: Neutralize the Odor

To help prevent the spot from smelling, sprinkle a layer of baking soda over stain and leave it to sit for 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, use a broom or vacuum to pick up baking soda.

Step 4: Prevent Future Accidents

To prevent your pet from marking the same spot, it's suggested to spray area with a pet deterrent spray or sprinkle cayenne pepper or other spices in the area (just make sure your pet doesn't ingest it!). You should also create a designated area or “potty patch” for your pet to go.

Conclusion

Urine stains on your lawn can be a major headache, but with these simple steps you can easily remove them without damaging your grass in process. Just make sure to take preventative measures to stop future accidents from happening.
