If you catch the stain early, there’s a much better chance of it coming clean. As soon as you notice it, use a spoon or dull knife to carefully scrape away as much of the urine stain as possible while being careful not to spread it. Once this is done, dab area with a paper towel and cold water. If you can, add a few drops of white vinegar to the water. This will help to neutralize the bacteria in the urine and act as a pre-treatment for the stain. Then, blot the area with a dry towel and allow it to air-dry completely.
Once the stain has dried, you can machine wash it. Add a small amount of liquid detergent to the washing machine, but don’t add any fabric softener. Select the gentle cycle option or the hand-washing settings with cold or warm water (never hot). Place the jumper in washer and let it do its job. You may choose to check after a few minutes. After the cycle has finished, air-dry the item. Don’t put it in the dryer until you’re sure the stain has been completely removed.
If the stain still remains after the washing mchine cycle, you can spot-clean it with a mixture of half water and half white vinegar. Dip a cloth in mixture and dab the stained area. Once again, take care not to spread the stain. Finally, rinse the area with cool water and dry it with a towel. You should now have a stain-free jumper.
