What You'll Need

  • Liquid detergent
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar

Step 1: Blotting

The first step in cleaning urine stains from jeans is to blot the area with paper towels or a clean cloth. The goal is to absorb as much liquid as possible. Keep blotting and replacing the paper towels or cloth until stain isn't visible on surface anymore.

Step 2: Pre-treatment

Mix together liquid detergent and warm water in a clean bowl. Dip a cloth into the mixture and gently dab at the area of the stain. Make sure not to scrub too hard, as this could cause the stain to spread and make it harder to remove. Let pre-treatment sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.

Step 3: Baking Soda Paste

Once you've rinsed off the detergent pre-treatment, mix together two tablespoons of baking soda and a quarter cup of white vinegar in a bowl. Stir the mixture until it forms a paste. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

Once the paste has been sitting for the allotted time, rinse it off with warm water. Blot at the area again with a paper towel or cloth until the stain is gone. If it's still visible, you may need to repeat steps 2-4.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

For a final touch, wash jeans on a regular cycle in the washing machine. This should help to completely remove any residual odor and finish cleaning jeans. Hang them up to dry and admire your handy work!
