Things You'll Need:
- Laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Cloth rag
- Old toothbrush
Instructions:
- Remove the garment and inspect it. Check the stain to determine how set in it is.
- If the stain is fresh, treat it immediately with water or club soda to keep it from setting in and becoming harder to remove.
- Wash garment in the washing machine with a laundry detergent, using the longest cycle and the hottest water appropriate for type of fabric.
- If the stain is still visible, soak the garment in a solution of 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 1/2 tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent in a quart of warm water. Soak overnight and then add the garment to a regular washer cycle.
- Once garment has been washed, check the stain again. If it remains, mix one tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of warm water and use a cloth rag to blot stain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water.
- For stubborn stains, use an old toothbrush to scrub the area with a liquid detergent. Rinse the garment again and repeat as necessary.
- Once the stain is gone, run through a regular washer cycle and you are finished!
Additional Tips:
- Always pre-treat the garment with a stain remover before laundering.
- If possible, air dry the garment in direct sunlight. Sunlight helps remove stubborn stains.
- Do not put garment in the dryer until the stain is completely gone.
