One of the most popular and effective ways to remove urine stains from your curtains is using white vinegar. Mix one part vinegar with two parts warm water in a spray bottle, and liberally spray it on the affected area. Once fabric has been soaked, let it sit for several minutes, then rinse with cold water. Finally, launder the curtains normally.
Baking soda is another useful tool for cleaning up urine stains. First, sprinkle the area generously with baking soda and leave it to sit for at least an hour. Then vacuum up the baking soda and launder curtains in the washing machine.
If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can combine hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to create a paste. Apply the paste to the stain and allow it to sit for several minutes before rinsing with cold water. Finally, put the curtains in the washing machine to remove remainder of the stain.
If you want to avoid using chemicals or if the above methods don’t work, you can try using a commercial stain remover. Follow the instructions on the packaging and use it to treat the affected area. If possible, use a product that is formulated to be safe for use on delicate fabrics. When you’re done, launder the curtains as normal.
If you have children, it’s important to take steps to prevent urine stains from happening in the first place. If your kids have accidents, place a waterproof pad or absorbent material under them. That way, if they do have an accident, the material will soak up the urine and you won’t have to worry about cleaning up the curtains.
