What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Cold water
  • Stain remover
  • Soft cloths

Steps to Clean Urine Stains From Denim

  1. Dab the stain with a soft cloth to blot up as much of the urine as possible.
  2. Mix a solution of 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a 1/4 cup of cold water.
  3. Using a clean, soft cloth, pat the solution onto the stain. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the fabric.
  4. After removing the excess moisture, spray a stain remover on the spot and allow it to sit for 2 minutes. Blot the area with a soft, dry cloth to finish.

Additional Tips

  • Always test the cleaner on an inconspicuous area of the denim first before applying it to the stained area.
  • If stain remains after you’ve tried cleaning it with vinegar and baking soda, use a stronger cleaner like enzyme-based one designed specifically for urine stains.
  • If stain is old and already set in, you may need to repeat the cleaning process a few times.
  • Once the urine stain is removed, rinse the area with cold water and let it air dry.
