The sooner you begin acting to remove a urine stain, the better your results. Try to address the stain as soon as possible. Start by removing any excess liquid and if necessary, blot the area with a damp cloth. Never rub the area, as this can spread the stain.
After you remove the excess liquid, it’s time to pretreat the area. Create a solution using 1 teaspoon of mild laundry detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 2 cups of warm water. Apply this solution with a brush or cloth, gently working it into the stained area. Let the solution sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off completely.
Once you have pretreated the area, it’s time to run the item through washing machine. Use a mild laundry detergent on warm water and turn the cycle twice to ensure all of the detergent residue is removed. If the stain remains after the first cycle, repeat Step 2 and try again.
Finally, lay the item flat to air dry. Avoid placing the item in the dryer, as heat can set stain and make it more difficult to remove. Check item after it’s dry and if there are still traces of the stain, repeat the steps until it disappears.
