Cotton piqué fabrics are prone to staining if not treated properly. Unfortunately, when stains do occur, it can be very difficult to remove them. Urine stains are especially tricky, because they involve acidic or alkaline components that could damage fabric fibers if not treated correctly. Fortunately, there is a way to get rid of urine stains on cotton piqué fabrics without damaging them.
Before you can treat the stain, you need to blot it with a dry cloth. Use a white cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the urine as possible. This will help to prevent it from seeping into the fabric’s fibers and making the stain worse.
Once you have blotted up any excess urine, mix a solution of warm water and laundry detergent. Dip a cloth in solution and gently rub the stain. Once you have worked the solution into the fabric, rinse with cold water. Repeat this process until the stain is gone. If the stain persists, you may need to use a stain remover.
Once you have treated the stain, allow the fabric to air-dry. Do not put the fabric in the dryer, as high heat can set the stain, making it permanent. Once the fabric is completely dry, inspect it to make sure stain is gone.
To prevent future urine stains, make sure to wash the fabric regularly. Choose a laundry detergent that is specifically formulated for urine stains, such as Biz Stain & Odor Eliminator. This can help to prevent future stains from occurring.
Urine stains on cotton piqué fabrics don’t have to be permanent. With some patience and the right steps, you can quickly and easily restore the fabric to its original condition. Just remember that prevention is key for avoiding future stains.
