Removing urine stains from cotton lawn requires a delicate approach. You'll need to use a mild cleaning solution to avoid damaging or discoloring the fabric. Here's what you will need:
- White Vinegar
- Borax
- Gentle Detergent
- Soft brush
- Paper Towels
Before beginning, make sure that the stain is fresh and hasn't been sitting too long. The longer urine has had to set, the harder it will be to remove. If the stain has already dried, you may want to soak it in water before proceeding.
Instructions
- Mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of borax with 1 quart of warm water.
- Dip a soft bristle brush into the solution and gently scrub stain. You can also use a soft cloth if you don't have a brush.
- Rinse the area with cool water.
- Apply a small amount of gentle detergent directly to stain. Do not use more than necessary as detergent can be harsh on delicate fabric.
- Using a circular motion, rub the detergent into fabric.
- Rinse fabric with cool water.
- Pat the area dry with paper towels or a clean cloth.
- Allow the fabric to air dry.
Tips & Tricks
- If you are unable to remove the stain completely, repeat the steps above and allow fabric to soak for up to 15 minutes before rinsing.
- Always check the manufacturer's instructions for washing and handling before attempting to clean any fabric.
- White vinegar is a natural deodorizer, so it can help to reduce odors.
