Chiffon georgette is a dreamy fabric often used in women's garments such as blouses, scarves, and dresses. But this beautiful fabric can also be particularly susceptible to staining. Unfortunately, urine stains on chiffon georgette can be particularly hard to remove because of their composition. When chiffon georgette gets wet, it can be prone to stretching and warping, which is why you must use special care when tackling these stains.
The first step when removing urine stains from chiffon georgette is to blot up excess moisture with a soft cloth or paper towels. You want to absorb as much as possible of the moisture without spreading the stain. Move the cloth or paper towel in a pressing motion so as not to push the urine into the fabric.
Once you've blotted away excess moisture, you can move on to applying spotting solution. Choose a spot cleaner specifically formulated for lighter colors since chiffon georgette usually has a light color. Follow the directions on the packaging and apply a small amount of the spot cleaner directly to the stain. Let the spot cleaner sit for several minutes before blotting it off with a damp cloth.
After letting the spotting solution sit, it's time to wash the fabric. Make sure to use a mild detergent and cold water. To prevent further damage, opt for a gentle cycle if your machine has one. Afterward, lay the fabric flat to dry or hang it in the sun. Avoid using a tumble dryer since the heat may set the stain permanently.
