Cashmere is a delicate material that is soft to the touch and offers warmth in even chilliest days. However, because it is so expensive and luxurious, you want to make sure to treat it with care. Unfortunately, accidents happen and can leave behind urine stains on your favorite cashmere garments. Cleaning urine stains from cashmere is not as daunting as it may seem. With the right approach, you can get those pesky spots out easily. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get rid of urine stains from cashmere fabrics.
Step 1: Blot the Stain
First, you’ll want to remove as much of the urine as possible. Take a white cloth or paper towel and gently blot stain to soak up the liquid. Do not scrub or rub the spot as this could damage the cashmere fabric.
Step 2: Use a Cleaning Solution
Once you have removed as much of the urine as you can, you’ll need to prepare a cleaning solution. You can use a combination of one part mild detergent and four parts lukewarm water. Take a clean cloth and dip it into the cleaning solution. Gently dab the cloth over the stain, being careful not to rub or scrub the fabric.
Step 3: Rinse and Repeat
If stain is still present, you may need to repeat the process. Fill a bowl with cool water and dip the garment in it. Once it is submerged, swish it around to rinse out the cleaning solution. If the stain persists, repeat steps two and three until you are satisfied with the results.
Step 4: Hang to Dry
Once the stain is gone, you will need to hang the garment to dry. Do not place it in dryer as this could cause damage to the fibers of fabric. If possible, hang the garment in direct sunlight. The sun’s rays can help disinfect fabric and also help preserve the color of the cashmere.
Step 5: Put Away
Once the garment is fully dry, you can fold it and store it away. You may also want to spray a fabric protector onto the garment to help prevent future stains and protect fabric from wear and tear. By following these steps, you can easily remove urine stains from your cashmere garments with ease. With the right approach, you can keep your garments clean, fresh, and looking great for years to come.
