Pre-Treating The Stain

The first step is to pretreat the stain. Start by using a damp cloth to blot the urine stain to remove as much excess liquid as possible. Then, mix equal parts laundry detergent and water together and then apply it to the stain. Allow the detergent solution to sit on the stain for at least 5 minutes before attempting to wash the pants.

Washing The Pants

Once you have pre-treated the stain, it’s time to wash the pants. Before putting the pants in the washing machine, check the manufacturer’s label for recommended washing instructions to make sure you are using the right settings. Generally, cargo pants should be washed in cold water and dried on low heat. To get the best results, add a cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle. The vinegar helps break down urine stains and prevents them from setting in permanently.

Removing the Stain Completely

If stain doesn’t come out after one wash cycle, try repeating pre-treatment and washing steps again. If the stain still won’t budge, you may need to use a specialized product specifically designed to remove urine stains. Apply cleaner according to the product’s instructions and then wash the pants as usual. With a bit of patience and elbow grease, your cargo pants will be good as new!
