How to Clean Urine Stains from Backpacks

  1. Lift up the stained area and let it dry completely. This will help you get a better idea of where the stain is located.
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap with 1 cup of cold water in a bowl. Stir the mixture until it foams.
  3. Dip a white cloth into the soapy water and gently blot the stained area until it is saturated.
  4. Gently scrub the area with a soft bristled brush or toothbrush in a circular motion until the stain is lifted.
  5. Rinse the area well with plain water and let it air-dry.
  6. If the stain persists, mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with 1 cup of cold water in a bowl. Dip a white cloth into solution and gently blot the stained area until it is saturated.
  7. Gently scrub the area with a soft bristled brush or toothbrush in a circular motion until the stain is lifted. Rinse with cold water and let it air-dry.

Additional Tips

  • Always do a patch test before applying any cleaning product to backpack. Also, read the care and cleaning instructions on label first.
  • If the stain is still visible, try using a stain remover that is safe for fabrics and upholstery.
  • Set the backpack in the sun for several hours to help remove stubborn stains.
