Begin by blotting up as much of the urine as possible with a dry, absorbent cloth. Don’t scrub the area; instead let the cloth do work for you. Move the cloth in a circular motion from the outside in. Continue to blot until no more liquid is coming out of the fabric.
To pre-treat stain, mix one teaspoon of liquid enzyme detergent with one cup of cold water. Dip a clean cloth into solution and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for about 30 minutes before rinsing it with cold water. This step will help loosen stain and make it easier to remove.
Mix a solution of one tablespoon white vinegar, one tablespoon dishwashing liquid, and two cups of warm water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and scrub stain gently. Work from the outside in so that the stain doesn’t spread. Be careful not to rub too hard or you may damage the fabric.
Once you’ve scrubbed the stain, rinse the area with cold water. Make sure you’ve gotten rid of all the soap suds. Then, use a hair dryer set to low heat to dry the area. This will help prevent the stain from setting in and make it much easier to get rid of.
If the stain still remains after following the steps above, you can try spot treating it with bleach. Use a non-chlorine bleach and mix one part bleach to three parts water. Apply this solution directly to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Be sure to test bleach on a hidden area of the fabric first, as it could discolor the material.
Finally, you can wash the fabric in cold water with an enzyme detergent. Don’t add any bleach or fabric softener to the load. Once the cycle has finished, hang the fabric up to air dry.
Getting rid of urine stains from Angora fabric isn’t as daunting as it may seem. By following the steps outlined above, you’ll be able to remove even the toughest stains. With the right cleaner and technique, you can restore your Angora fabric to its former glory.
