Create a mixture of equal parts baking soda and white vinegar, and apply it onto the stained area. Rub the paste gently into the fabric and leave for about 10 minutes or so. You can then proceed to rinse off the solution with cold water, as warm water may cause stain to set in more permanently. Repeat the process if necessary.
For tougher and older stains on alpaca fabrics, you can try soaking the item in a solution of water and three percent hydrogen peroxide. Let the garment soak for 30 minutes before rinsing with cold water. You can also use this solution as a spot treatment; simply mix one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide with two cups of water, and dab the solution onto the stain with a sponge. Again, rinse with cold water and repeat the process if needed.
Mix one tablespoon of ammonia with two cups of water to form a detergent solution. Dab the solution onto the impacted areas, then use a soft brush or cloth to lightly scrub away the stain. Finally, rinse off solution with cold water. Note that ammonia should not be used on wool, so do a test patch first on a hidden area.
Borax has a mild bleaching effect, which it can be used to lighten stubborn urine stains on alpaca fabrics. Mix half a cup of borax with two cups of lukewarm water and stir until it forms a paste-like consistency. Rub the mixture gently onto the stained areas and work it into the fabric using a soft brush. Leave paste on for at least 15 minutes, before washing item in cold water.
These simple tips and tricks should help you to effectively remove any unsightly and odorous urine stains on your alpaca garments or fabrics. You may even want to give them a try on any other delicate clothing materials! Just remember that warm water should be avoided, as it could cause the stain to sink further into the fabric, making it harder to clean.
